Koetter
releases new product feature for their unique Powered Variable Exhaust
System
Koetter Dry Kiln continues to innovate with the introduction
of a new more accurate method of varying the exhaust rate while executing
the drying schedule. Electronic exhaust rate control will be used on
our Medium & Large Dry Kilns. The kiln operator will now be capable
of electronically manipulating the rate of exhaust during the drying
operation with even greater accuracy than before. The exhaust volumetric
flow can be controlled within +.5%! This yields even greater process
control than before. Greater process control is critical in the later
stages of the wood drying process. The Powered Variable Exhaust System
used in conjunction with our schedules, constantly vents throughout
the drying process.

Koetter
Dry Kiln Introduces New State-of-the-Art Timber-Dry Management Control
System
Koetter Dry Kiln's new Timber-Dry Management Control System
utilizes state-of-the-art instrumentation
that takes kiln drying into the 21st century and yet remains true to
the KDK "kinder, gentler" method
of drying lumber. By providing an easy
to use and flexible operator interface, the kiln operator ultimately
determines the optimum drying recipe for the lumber to be dried. This
recipe is then sequentially executed automatically. The Timber-Dry
Management Control System provides more information about the drying
process, which leads to greater control over it, yielding increased
quality and shorter drying times.
Features include:
- Preprogrammed drying procedures
- The ability to program custom drying schedules
- The capability to manipulate or suspend the drying schedule as
it executes
- Maintains a record of process variables that can be exported to
Microsoft Access or Excel such as
- wet bulb temperature
- dry bulb temperature
- exhaust setting
- Frequent wet bulb measurements
- Continuous dry bulb measurements
- Automatic control of floor temperature based on dew point to eliminate
condensate
- Operator interface shows the drying sequence as it is executed
in real time
- Multiple kiln operation is possible through one operator interface
Benefits include:
- Reduced drying time (up to 3 days per kiln charge vs. manual method)
- Increased drying efficiency due to a faster response time and shorter
drying cycles
- Reduced kiln operator interface time since the control system is
doing all the work
- Drying history data that enables quality assurance and tracking

New
KDK Cantilever Overhead Door System Now Available
Koetter Dry Kiln is pleased to introduce the new cantilever overhead door system. This
system is available as an optional feature on chambers starting at 20,000
board feet. It operates at optimum performance for both indoor and outdoor
kilns. The heavy-duty steel construction is capable of supporting both
the door and a canopy. Just one support can be used for two adjacent doors.
The superior top hinge door design provides excellent seal compression
with no friction. KDK door seals also have an unparalleled long life.
Other features include a winch cable hoist system for raising and lowering
the kiln door and a safety locking mechanism that locks the door in place
when it is open.
Like all KDK's dry
kiln products and accessories, the cantilever overhead door system is
of the highest quality, longevity, and operational economy, plus it is
simple to operate. Koetter Dry Kiln, Inc. provides wood drying solutions
that exceed industry standards and achieve the best short-term and long-term
financial results.
